Wonder Woman 1984 (also marketed as WW84: Wonder Woman 1984) is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Wonder Woman. It is the sequel to 2017's Wonder Woman and the ninth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film is directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she wrote with Geoff Johns and David Callaham, and a story by Johns and Jenkins, and stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, alongside Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Robin Wright, and Connie Nielsen in supporting roles. Set in 1984, the film follows Diana as she faces off against Maxwell Lord and Cheetah.

Release

Wonder Woman 1984 has been scheduled for release by Warner Bros. Pictures in the United States in RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema and IMAX 3D[citation needed] on August 14, 2020. It was originally announced for release in December and November 2019, then scheduled for June 2020. In March 2020, with the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic closing theaters for an unpredictable period of time the film was rescheduled for August.
